CBT (or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) is a type of psychotherapy that helps you better understand how your thoughts and feelings influence your mood and relationships. It helps you to recognize how certain behaviours and thought patterns affect your functioning and happiness. CBT can help you to more effectively manage emotions and improve the accuracy of your thought patterns.
The effectiveness of CBT has withstood more scientific testing than any other form of psychotherapy. It has been proven effective for treatment of anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and more.
Your time is precious, so before embarking on something as challenging as therapy, it's important to determine whether CBT Halifax is the right fit for you.
This involves a 10-15 minute phone conversation where Dr. Nunes will learn about your symptoms and goals. If the fit is right, we'll set up an appointment.
During the first visit, Dr. Nunes performs a thorough assessment of your needs. Together, you'll then develop a collaborative treatment plan.*
Collaborative treatment plans are a core component of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy where you and your therapist clearly define your goals and plan the most effective approach to achieving them.
Treatment will continue according to your collaborative treatment plan. Most clients will require between 4-6 sessions.
